About the Owner

The shop was first opened in 1959 as Fun & Sun by the Main family. In 1967 the shop was purchased by Larry Gordon (of G & S fame). After another ownership change and then briefly closing the doors in 1993, Randy and Jeff Strunk purchased the shop. In 1995 Larry Gordon convinced the brothers to bring back the former name and logo. The shop thrived in its original location until the spot was scheduled for demolition. Luckily a larger location was available just next door at the Pacific Promenade. Pacific Beach Surf Shop remains the oldest surf shop in San Diego.
